We first heard Anastacia on the Internet, for more info and some of her clips, click on the graphic. Listen to "Paid my Dues", excellent song.
We decided to find new sources of entertainment and pursued several avenues.
We installed an XM radio in the car(a satellite system which broadcasts about 80 private audio channels nationwide), which is great for long trips, but it does cost about $10 per month.
Then we found 100's of radio stations that Apple's Itunes can connect to at no charge. Many of these are non-commercial. While browsing Itune's selections, we found RadioParadise.com with an interesting mix of music from the 60's rock to some strange sounding foreign stuff. Listen to them by clicking on the graphic on top.
Radio Paradise maintains a list of songs played (with the current song displayed in Itunes). for the last 6 hours. Also links to the music and artists. RadioParadise.com had definitely become our favorite station.
Really the only other station we listen to is KFI in Los Angeles (through the Internet also). We are big fans of Rush (Limbaugh in case you where born in the stone age), Bill Handle (the "used to be doper", "used to be attorney" who hosts the morning show, and the computer guy, Leo Laporte on weekends isn't bad, he is sometimes wrong but we generally agree with his opinions. You can find KFI at kfi640.com
Leo Laporte can be found at www.leoville.com
Notes on audio players. We have used (in order of use), RealAudio (a long
time ago) Winamp (for a few years), and MusicMatch Jukebox, so we could download
pay-for music and RIP CD's to MP3 conveniently.
We are now using Apple's Itunes which has been available on Windows computers
(Windows 2000 & XP only)
for about a year.
Advantages include, free, easy to use setup and update, RIP's CD to MP3, paid
library, supports MP3's without conversion. Large dynamically updated list of
available radio stations, small screen mode is small and functional.
We consider WMA (windows media player) atrocious for use as an audio player,
but we do use it for playing most video clips as we have not had the time to
find an alternative at a reasonable price.
One other avenues of entertainment some people pursue is to use
File Sharing services (Grokster, Bearshare, The old Napster, etc). Our
thoughts on File Sharing:
The Radio Paradise stream (graphic at top)
or click here is
low-fi (16kb), we normally listen at 64kb or 128kb, see the web
site to http://www.radioparadise.com to
explore all options for listening.
Not all computers will be able to play the samples featured here, you must
have a compatible browser and player installed.
